Ealagad

After myself and my companions had faced the Shade, and were forced out of the crypt, I needed to know who this raging, powerful force is! Who knows anymore.. Any scrap of information about her may be the key to helping the small village and keeping them safe.

Whilst in the dungeon, she had screamed profanities at us all as the battle had raged on. She was quite insane.

I studied by night at the Loures library, there I found several key historical documents which gave me some insight into who she is, or rather was, as it turns out she was not maddened prior to her disappearance.

Ealagad was an Empress, descended from the line of Emperor Ainmeal who rose to power when he began gathering allies and eventually defeated Lord Tenes.

Ealagad was known as The Swan of Steel, as uncovered in the work of Chloe, she was born in the year 3012 to parents Ealceil and Maera.

In the year 3031, Ealagad walked into the Loures Palace, and her cousin, the current Empress threw herself off a balcony. She had long since been deemed mad, but no one ever knew the reason or motive for the suicide.

So the Beanlar journals state, 3 days later she was crowned as Empress. At this point she continued her work of restoring faith in the Temuarian Gods and having the Dubhaimid purged from Temuair.

This Empress eventually started the Shadow Wars, attempting to take down the Dubhaimid. This is where the literal madness ensued. This war was won long after Ealagad’s disappearance, upon the discovery of the light element. This helped the wizards of Rucesion to defeat the Dubhaimid. At this point in time is when the holdings of the Lords and Ladies was destroyed, and only the cities which we know today remained.

She had long since gone, or so it was thought. Other historical works document that Ealagad vanished before The Shadows War was won. Perhaps it is the fae blood in her, which is clearly documented in her lineage, which has kept a vestige of her alive in this village’s Crypt.

My conclusion is that the shade we faced, is the remnants of who she once was, and any humanity once inside of her has been erased by her descent into madness caused by the Dubhaimid. This was only part of her, she is nowhere near as strong as she was in her days as the Swan of Steel. I believe she still may be tied to the lands after all this time, her beloved city which was once known as Hoige, by the powerful magic of the fae blood running through her veins. However, we shall never know for sure until more is unearthed.

For now, the relentless war to rid Hoige, or Blackstar as it is now known, of her Shade will continue on until we can uncover more about why she is still here, or what ties her to this place.
